Rumor: Leaked photo tease Tomb Raider 9 reboot
I always thought that plane crash story was boring [ ], but that's mostly because I just hate snowy levels... EDIT: Oh, and the plot says that she was on a research vessel, so the Himilayan crash could have still happened and this is just shortly afterward. Maybe she was just a plain-jane Archaeologist after the crash and this launched her into full-fledged, bad-ass tomb raiding. I'm so psyched about this. Lawyers have been swooping in all over demanding that the pics be taken down, so I have to believe they're all genuine. Anyone else think the new Lara looks a lot like Rhona Mitra? :D

Appears Crystal Dynamics is starting to fill it staff for Tomb Raider 9
They also did Legacy of Kain in the past, although the last game in that series came out in 2003, so I kinda doubt they're going to resurrect the series after so long. Who knows. I'm almost certain the AAA Title is TRIX, though. If they're just now starting work on it, I wouldn't really expect any sort of media until around Christmas or early 2011 myself. I predict the game would be released sometime in 2012 to somewhat coincide with the third TR flick which was [kinda] announced a month or so ago.

Sometimes A Killer Body Isn't Enough
Eidos pulls the plug on Lara Croft Well, kinda. http://kotaku.com/5128698/eidos-cfo-says-l...ul-in-the-works "Eidos CFO Says Lara Croft Overhaul in the Works" So basically, Lara's going to change her history for the, count them: first, second, THIRD time! This is getting kinda crazy. But as long as they don't completely assassinate Lara's basic character, I'm fine with another reboot. Maybe this one will be closer to Core's Lara. But now I'm wondering if the Legend trilogy actually happened, since CrystalD said that the "first" continuity of TR games between TR1-TR6 were "only rumors never verified by Lara herself" (this is taken from the "about Lara" section in Legend's strategy guide) Will they say the same for the "second (legend)" continuity? *sigh* Such a turbulent new year for Tomb Raider....

Sometimes A Killer Body Isn't Enough
http://kotaku.com/5127993/lay-offs-strike-crystal-dynamics Eidos has laid off 30 Crystal Dynamics employees in response to the average figures produced by TR:U (since when is 1.5 million dollars a week average?) in an attempt to save money. As we know, Eidos has been having financial trouble since before Underworld was even announced, and now it seems to be reaching a critical point. SCi is assumed to go under soon, which would bring down Eidos. if Eidos goes down, CrystalD will take a critical monotary hit if they themselves aren't brought down. However, all hope is not lost for our heroine: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3171583 At the beggining of last month, both EA and Ubisoft expressed interest in buying out Eidos if they collapse. This would mean that either EA or Ubisoft (I personally would like Ubi) would now oversee the franchise and fund CrystalDynamics. However, just yesterday, Time Werner, owners of Werner Brothers have also expressed interest in buying the ailing company: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21800 Now, a little about each party: EA: -Has made The Sims franchise, a very well known and massively successful franchise. Could they re-establish Tomb Raider to where it becomes as recognizable as The Sims? -They also make Madden games for the consoles. These are also hugely successful. -Overall, they are a richer company. -However, EA has caught bad publicity in the past for rushing out games (hence why there are a bajillion Sims expansion packs), so I personally don't see much of a change in tactics between Eidos and EA. Ubisoft -Has made the new Prince of Persia games and Assasin's Creed. Both are very, very successful and are fan favorites. -Ubisoft seem to have a more relaxed approach to game building, they don't insist on pumping out games as fast as possible like both EA and Eidos. -Ubisoft also seems to have a decent ammount of cash on them, they're definately not shy on aggresively promoting their titles. -They already have rudimentary experience making Tomb Raider, they released Tomb Raider: The Prophecy for the Gameboy Advance, which recieved "okay" reviews from most gaming sites. Time Werner/Werner Bros -Clearly has the most money out of the previous three. -WB also is the most recognizable company to the general public. They make movies, (had) a TV channel, and Time Werner owns a large section of cable and internet business. -They make mainly movie tie-in games that usually get luke-warm reviews -However, they make the F.E.A.R franchise, which has gotten good reviews. -The acquisition of Eidos would give WB an easier time making a third TR movie, which may be one of the major reasons why they want to control the series. Again, they have obvious dollar signs in their eyes.

Demo Impressions and Screenshots.
You remapped them to the Legend controls? I had to remap the Legend controls to the TR:U controls earlier, because they're absolute rubbish otherwise. *sigh* fifteen days to go....

Demo Impressions and Screenshots.
I know because I'm magical. Duh. No, I just looked at a walkthrough. Also: EXCELSIOR! (Lara somehow rolled onto a weird pointed rock when I was trying to get the really complex secret in the tiger area and made this pose. ) Edit: Although it doesn't look like it, the arm position in Shrensh's screenshot is quite possible to do. It's just really awkward and would probably break some bones if you tried to fire and Uzi with it like that. But hey, she's Lara flipping Croft, she probably farts Kalvin Klein for all we know.

I love this screenshot it's my new desktop : The original is a whole lot bigger than that, Photobucket just shrunk it.

Demo Impressions and Screenshots.
In the first area (as in, from first surfacing to right after the first pole-swing), I found three. -If you climb the greenery far right and up, you can jump up to some ledges and eventually drop into a small cave (with spiders ) -There's a treasure among the seaweed in the water around the place where you jump to get the first treasure -Right after the pole-swing, you can drop and hang to the right and climb down some loose stones, jumping behind into a small outcrop. Three down, eight to go.

The game seems to chug along at some points for me, I probably should look into getting more CPU strength. That aside: :o This game is amazing!!! The environments, the acrobatics, the sheer fluidity of everything is wonderful. You can swing on poles, scale massive pillars, shoot tigers, stomp bugs, there was never a dull moment in the demo for me. I always found something to do. Goodbye walking through stone hallways for five minutes in between puzzles (the hallways that are in the demo are acrobatic puzzles within themselves!!!) Also, hmm, the intro cutscene seems to have been abridged for the demo. I remember seeing a video where the cutscene included the three talking about Helheim, Natla, and Lara's mother among other things, but not in the demo. Maybe CD didn't want to spoil people that hadn't seen all the press and just wanted to play the demo. Thoughtful. I thought I got all the secrets, but come to find out there are eleven just in the twenty minute demo!

REALLY NEW VIDEO!!!!
Well, not clunky in that sense. In some areas it looks like she has too few frames for whatever action she's doing, which I keep noticing when she jumps. She seems to skip a few frames here and there. (and plus, she's Lara flipping Croft, who says she can't flow like water? )

REALLY NEW VIDEO!!!!
Hey the Med level is growing on me. Mostly because I was under the impression that it was just Lara hunting for cogs and then battling the Kraken, but she appears to be walking through a big room before the Kraken fight so who knows. I love how Lara's starting to act like a real archaeologist (or at least more of a structured professional) with the video camera, tape-recorder, etc. Some of Lara's anims still look a little clunky, though. This wouldn't bother me all that much if the game wasn't going to be released in just about a month... ( )

Tomb Raider: Underworld Teaser Trailer!
I don't mind Tomb Raider being "dark" (or even M Rated), as long as they handle it better than they did with AoD. With AoD, the dark atmosphere seemed so....fake. Like they were trying really hard to make it gritty, which made it just seem out of place with the other games. Lara even cursed sharply when she set of a set of harmless lasers. So as long as Lara doesn't break a nail and decide to bring out the kerosene jugs, I'm fine.

Need help, want something that lookslike exactly as Silent Hill
I guess you're into psychological horror? Less monsters jumping out, more of a general feel of unease, like the Silent Hill games have versus the RE series. Anyway, if that's the case, I've heard good things about Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the Gamecube. MobyGames doesn't show any ports of the thing, so I guess you'll be out of luck if you don't have a GC. EDIT: Now that I think about it, if you really want a SH clone, check out Siren for the PS2. (and I think it may have been ported to PC) It even has the desnse gray fog and freaky cult people! From videos I've seen, it looks to have a nonlinear plot, meaning that it doesn't go "ABCDE" rather "BDACE". It even skips entire days of the plot at times!

Tomb Raider: Underworld Teaser Trailer!
I see what looks like a key from St. Francis' Folly flying inward for a few seconds, although it may be a part of a clock. Piccie: Bah, crappy Youtube quality. Anyway, it definately has the same design as the TRA keys, and didn't St. Francis' Folly have a Thor room?

Tomb Raider: Underworld Teaser Trailer!
She didn't even blow up the entire manor, just the foyer. Must've been trying to destroy something (someone?) that was held in that part of the house. That or the animators just got lazy with animating the sides of the manor exploding. Looks kinda like a weak fire after the explosion, too. Hmm..... Also, is her eye bleeding? Yeowch. But at least that suggests she may have just come from a fierce battle, maybe from inside the home? (although I didn't see any bodies, but that may be CD trying not to give too much away) Psycho Lara is back!!!!

Games that look like Tomb Raider
Hmm, the second pic definitely looks to have the Tomb Raider feel. To me, it looks kinda like a mix between Ratchet&Clank(or the recent Jak games) and (obviously) TR. Which isn't a bad thing. I just wish the poor girl didn't have to run around in that outfit. There's a thin line between sexy and degrading....

SCi hurting for money; Tomb Raider's future is up in the air
I completely forgot about this thread, but I think the problem is resolved right now. As of February 29th, Eidos canceled 14 other, less important projects to save money and ensure their "cash cow" franchises such as Tomb Raider and Hitman would survive. Full Article (Eidos Official Site) Kinda sucks for the fourteen games and the people working on them, though....

Graphical issues in TR2 for XP
Last weekend, I downloaded the demo for Tomb Raider 3's expansion pack, The Lost Artifact. I immediately noticed that the horizon's textures were acting strange. Although this particular shot is from TRII, it looked exactly like this: Obviously since I took the above from TRII, it's happening in that game, too. I've tried running both in lower compatibility settings, but that didn't seem to help at all. What's really odd is that I've played TRII all the way through once before and never encountered this issue, especially not on the first level. I've also heard that you can make the older games do this if you hold 'Esc' while the level is booting up, but I've done no such thing. Is there any sort of patch that could fix this problem? I'm tried uninstalling/reinstalling TLA, but that didn't seem to help. I could try the same for TRII, but I really don't want to back up my saves.... Note: It's been a while since I've played TRII, and have since had another, more advanced graphics card installed. Could that be the source of the problem?

Please I have a problem with Tomb Raider one of the Top customs Level
Do you have a "Save" folder in the Himalayan Mysteries folder? Some levels, mostly the ones utilizing TREP, do not create a "save" folder automatically and therefor have problems saving. I think mine came with a "save" folder automatically, though....

SCi hurting for money; Tomb Raider's future is up in the air
Since Eidos essentially owns every grain of the franchise, I'm really not sure what would happen at all if they go under. Could another company buy the rights? Would TR:U have to stop development by anybody because of legal issues (seeing as half would be overseen by one company, and the other by a second)? All this legal mumbo jumbo confuses me. Maybe we have a lwayer member to answer our questions?
