  1. This will be my first foray into MMORPG since I'm a Star Wars fan. Unlike Warcraft, this game is very story-driven following in the vein of its single game predecesors Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 Game is out on DEC. 20/11 All the trailers: Return, Hope and Deceived http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1KM3E0emjg&feature=related How does Star Wars : The Old Republic relate to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place approximately three hundred years after the events of Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). At the conclusion of the Jedi Civil War in KOTOR, Revan disappeared into unknown space in search of a great threat to the Republic, an expanding Sith Empire led by a mysterious Emperor who planned vengeance for his ancient Jedi enemies. Revan never returned from unknown space, but the Sith Empire did, kicking off a war with the Republic that lasted for decades. Now, despite the uneasy truce created by the Treaty of Coruscant, the tension among the divided star systems is threatening to once again tear the galaxy apart. To learn more about the setting of The Old Republic, check out http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/timeline When does Star Wars : The Old Republic take place in relation to the movies? Star Wars : The Old Republic takes place more than 3,500 years before the rise of Darth Vader. The most powerful Sith Empire in history has emerged from deep space to attack the Republic and its legendary Jedi guardians. After decades of war, a tenuous truce has been established between the Sith Empire and the Republic, but events occurring in the game are leading the galaxy back to an all-out war. What makes Star Wars: The Old Republic unique? Traditionally, MMOs are built on three pillars: exploration, combat, and progression. At BioWare and LucasArts, we believe most MMOs ignore an important fourth pillar: story. Our mission is to create the best story-driven games in the world, and we believe that the compelling, interactive storylines in The Old Republic are a significant innovation in the MMO genre. The Old Republic intends to offer the best the MMO genre can produce. We have taken care to ensure that we improve on all the familiar hallmarks of the MMO genre while adding innovative new systems and gameplay. In The Old Republic, every character class has its own story, unique companion characters that join and assist the player, and even thrilling space combat and player starships! The Old Republic combines meaningful choice, story, and compelling design to deliver a groundbreaking MMO experience. System Requirements: Processor: •AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better •Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or better Operating System: •Windows XP or later RAM: •Windows XP: 1.5GB RAM •Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB RAM Note: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB of RAM. 2. Perhaps you should delete the older save files. In any case, there will be patches to fix glitches that have appeared although I haven't encountered any thus far. Easter Egg: Hrongar character (in Jarl of Whiterun's palace)is modelled after Arnold Schwarzeneger: it has his face and it also sounds like him! The voice sounded familiar so I switched to 1st pov and it was Arnold's face, lol!
  3. Sorry to hear that.... Yay you!! Wow! We seem to be playing the same games, lol! I'm starting out as a Nord male.
  4. I take it that was non-stop playing of Uncharted 3? If so --- wow! I'm now on Chapter 14: Cruisin' for a Bruisin'. That's all for tonight for me though; I was starting to get dizzy, lol. Need some much needed sleep!
  5. Cool. I was quite hesitant in going after the Joker since I have not yet found Nora. Yeah, I found this out by attempting to take the red trophy only to be zapped followed by the Riddler taunting for having done so. Yes please. PM me or just post it here with a spoiler tag. Thanks! There's also Skyrim... Neither have I gotten bored. But I'm hoping to finish this soon, at least the main storyline because Nov. 1st (Uncharted 3)is approaching rather quickly!
  6. I take it you can continue with the sidequests once your done with the main story line? Playing as Catwoman pretty much runs along the game's main storyline and thus crosses paths with the going-ons with Batman: there was this once instance where Catwoman has to decide whether or not to help/rescue Batman --- the choice was yours --- and I chose the former; I'm now wondering how Batman could have gotten out of this particular situation had I chosen the latter. Catwoman's very nimble and agile in contrast to Batman who's quite heavy and cumbersome to control. At the moment, I'm having problems locating Freezes' wife Nora --- the area Freeze has given is quite large.... I guess more exploration is called for. BTW, this game is epic, GOTY material --- this is far, far better than Batman: Arkham Asylum! What will Rocksteady do for another encore I wonder?
  7. There are apparently some game reviews out there already, IGN (10/10) and GameTrailers (9.5/10).
  8. Finished already? Wow! Marathon gaming huh? Did a bit of that last night but I'm going to take a while longer to finish since I'm doing a lot of sidequests: for the moment I'm teaming up with Bane and attempting to locate the psycho Zasz. I'm also going to download Catwoman's playable character too.
  9. Launch Trailer!!!... looks epic!!! Enjoy! http://www.gametrailers.com/video/launch-trailer-uncharted-3/722604 It seems the SD isn't working but the HD does work. From Youtube
  10. Batman: Arkham City I'm hooked too! I haven't played much yet; I'm about to confront the Joker up in his office....
  11. I think I'm about 2/3rds through..... I'm back at Hengshaw and have just saved Malik's life at the construction site. You gotta be fast to stop those guys from firing at the chopper or Malik dies! Have to agree with you there Morph, this also is one of my favourite games. I will re-play it again using different tactics and on a harder difficulty level. I started the game using stealth for the first mission. I find using deadly force much easier but there is no challenge in this sort of gameplay. I'm now using a mixture of both stealth and I only use deadly force when I feel the bad guys deserve it ( such as those 3 guys that were keeping this woman locked up in Hengshaw ).
  12. Now playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Not much to say at the moment since I've just started plus the fact that I have to work later this afternoon so...... I got the PC version and it installs through Steam. You must have a Steam account.

  14. One final trailer for those interested in this game which pretty much sums up the story and gameplay styles, mechanics and decisions that affect the outcome of the game. Here also are the different paths taken by 3 game reviewers to reach the same objective: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/13/deus-ex-human-revolution-diary-%e2%80%93-the-thinker/ http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/12/deus-ex-human-revolution-diary-%e2%80%93-the-hacker/ http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/11/deus-ex-human-revolution-diary-the-psychopath/ RELEASE DATE: Aug 23/11 US Aug 26/11 UK
  15. First off, that trailer was intense and very realistic! No complaints here. I agree with Ms. Croft's assessment of the trailer and game in general. Here's a recent Tomb Raider preview as found here: http://www.avault.com/previews/tomb-raider-ps3-preview/#more-70372 It seemed like a moment of deja vu this past winter when it was revealed that there would be yet another entry into the 15 year-old Tomb Raider series. The announcement was accompanied by reasons for why this game was going to be the return of Lara, but somehow they all seemed eerily familiar, recalling things that had been said about Lara’s previous 8 sequels. As I walked into Square’s demo room to see what Lara’s new adventure had in store, I had few expectations. When I walked out I was convinced that Lara was finally back and that next year’s Tomb Raider would be the game that fans have been waiting for. With this Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics scrapped everything they knew about Lara Croft and started from scratch. Gone is the seasoned adventurer whom we’ve all come to know, and instead we’re presented with a young woman, vulnerable and trying to survive. Survival is the key to this new game, and I probably heard the word survival 10 to 15 times throughout the 40 minute demo. We began with Lara’s boat crashing, and her falling to the bottom of a cave. A gruesome injury awaited her at the bottom with a bone gouging her side. A quick time event (QTE) forced her to pull the bone out and left her bleeding and in need of medical assistance. From there we saw Lara find a way out of the cave by solving environmental puzzles and using the physics of water and fire. At one point a native of the island attacks Lara and the game went back into a QTE to have her kick him off. The developer purposely failed the QTE and allowed Lara to be killed. What proceeded to happen was one of the most gruesome and disturbing deaths I’ve ever seen in a video game. The man jabbed her in the stomach, and then got very close to her face whispering, “It will all be over soon.” He hushed her and put his knife to her neck. I was both shocked at the violence that the scene contained and how I felt when it happened. This scene showed again, that survival is the key. This Tomb Raider game is much more lethal than any before it. The environment, characters, and creatures in it are deadly and it’s your job to make sure Lara survives. The developer continued where he left off and this time successfully completed the QTE event. Lara survived and after a few more puzzles was able to escape the cave somewhat unscathed. One thing I noticed was how fluid her movements seemed to be. One of the problems, for me at least, with the majority of the Tomb Raider games was that controlling Lara always seemed a little robotic. This time, her movement seemed much more free flowing and the camera seemed more dynamic and didn’t look to be much of a hinderance like in some previous installments. In a third person action game this is key. After completing that segment the developer proceeded to a section later in the game that had Lara fighting wolves and trying to save a companion. We learned that she is not alone on this island and that the survival of both Lara and her crew will come down to the success of the actions she takes. The most striking thing about the game was its presentation. I think the team at Crystal Dynamics played a lot, and I mean A Lot of the Uncharted series. The cinematic flare that this game has not only draws you into the story, but also adds a beautiful environment and main character at that. In just 40 minutes I developed an attachment to this new Lara, and began to get a sense of things to come. Most of this was presented in her on screen actions and reactions to what was going on around her, something that the Uncharted series has perfected. The addition of meaningful and cinematic QTE events adds to the tension and overall story that this game is trying to present. It almost felt like there was a little bit of Heavy Rain inspiration thrown in. I was blown away by the direction that Crystal Dynamics is taking the Tomb Raider series. It’s exactly what fans have been wanting, and possesses what will surely draw in new players. It seems as if development teams that have attempted this before had just made another Tomb Raider game and never caught up to the current state of action games. The titles always seemed a little dated with their controls and mechanics. This Tomb Raider not only looks to be the best entry since the original, but appears to be setting itself up for one of the biggest and maybe successful releases of 2012. Lara may have been lost on many adventures over the past 15 years, but come next year she will have found her way back.
  16. SDCC '11: Nathan Fillion Expresses Further Interest In Starring In Uncharted! http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=42803 Talking at the San Diego Comic Con, Castle star Nathan Fillion has revealed that he's definitely interested in playing Nathan Drake, and has a VERY unique idea on how exactly he might be able to nab the role... When David O. Russell was attached to direct the adaptation of Uncharted, the hit video game series and upcoming comic book series from DC, fans were disappointed to learn that it would be Mark Wahlberg who would likely fill the shoes of Nathan Drake. Nathan Fillion has been a fan favourite since the beginning, and following the news that Neil Burger had taken over the project and would be starting from scratch, the buzz surrounding the Castle star has begun anew. Well, here's what he had to say on the matter when talking to Screen Rant this weekend. "I am certainly still interested in playing Nathan Drake. I think every actor I know wants their action-adventure hero, their Indiana Jones. That would be a good one for me, I think. What I don’t want is people pressuring that poor man [director Neil Burger] and souring him on the actual idea. If we could somehow just… do you remember the movie Inception? I think that’s what we need to do. We need to let him land on the idea on his own."

  18. L.A. Noire Just started it so not much not comment on. I'm still working on my first case as a street officer.
  19. Yes sir I did and I agree, Crysis 2's graphics does not hold up to Crysis: Warhead. What a shame...
  20. I'm playing Crysis 2, PC version as well. My only --- well not only actually --- , disappointment with this is that it looks to me like a console port. Did you notice there are only 3 graphic options available and that this game was developed with DX 9 --- are you kidding me?!! Crysis still looks way better --- what with the many other graphic options available in order to optimize the game's visuals. I understand that a DLC pack of DX 11 will soon be made available for the PC game. Crytek really screwed this one up. It would've been better to develop the game for PC first, then port it over to the X360 and PS3. Consoles are really slowing down PC game development. My brother recently upgraded his computer and Crysis 2 runs flawlessly on the highest settings; whereas Crysis still brings his rig to its knees on the highest settings --- now that's saying something and an indication of something amiss.
  21. Here is an example of a multiple gameplay scenario very early in the game --- 3 to be exact: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/sarif-exterior-deus-ex/711970
  22. The fourth pack of downloadable content is coming out for Mass Effect 2, and will hit all platforms - PS3, Xbox 360, and PC - on the same day. That day is March 29. The DLC is titled Arrival, and it's the first story-based expansion of the game since it went cross-platform on the PS3 earlier this year. BioWare describes the new adventure on its website. According to the official description, "A deep cover agent is missing in Batarian space, after reporting evidence of an imminent Reaper invasion. Shepard must travel to the edge of the galaxy, rescue the agent, and discover the truth behind the Arrival. Uncover new research and 3 new achievements in this spectacular new adventure for Mass Effect 2." Following the release of Kasumi - Stolen Memory, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker, Arrival marks the fourth major piece of DLC released for the Xbox 360 and PC. The new content will cost $6.99, or 560 Microsoft/BioWare Points. http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/mass-effect-2/news/more-mass-effect-2-dlc-incoming-march-29/a-20110318161349110098/g-20100817134312396048
  23. RELEASE DATE: Aug 23/11 US Aug 26/11 UK http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/deus-ex-human-revolution/news/deus-ex-human-revolution-coming-in-august/a-20110308103750512011/g-20071127104520164080 A tweet from Eidos Montreal has confirmed that Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be released on August 23 in the US, and August 26 in the UK. The developer's statement comes after the dates were posted online, and later confirmed by UK retailer GAME in a statement to Eurogamer. Human Revolution was originally scheduled for release before the end of this month, but Square Enix announced in December that the title would be delayed to allow Eidos Montreal to "further polish" it. At least it isn't a long delay, and if you're lucky enough to be at PAX East this weekend, Eidos will be running a 20-minute live demo of the game, followed by a 20-minute developer Q&A. We'll have more on what to expect from PAX later today.
  24. Game Update Introduction of new villain, Katherine Marlowe: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gdc-11-uncharted-3/711403 The game will also incorporate 3-D gaming. Here is the in-game video intro for the new villain: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gdc-11-uncharted-3/711401
