Tomb Raider PC System Requirements Revealed!
Tomb Raider PC System Requirements Revealed! The PC version of Tomb Raider has been developed in tandem between Crystal Dynamics and long-time partner Nixxes, and we’re proud to be continuing this tradition. The relationship has spanned over a dozen PC titles, and dates back fifteen years. The PC edition also has the benefits of an ongoing partnership with AMD, with Tomb Raider extensively optimized to include unique AMD tech that supports AMD HD3D, AMD Eyefinity for capable PCs, and more. So here it is – the full list of PC enhancements and features for Tomb Raider, including minimum and recommended system requirements! System Requirements Minimum system requirements for PC Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista,7,8 (32bit/64bit) DirectX 9 graphics card with 512Mb Video RAM: AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT, nVidia 8600 Dual core CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 2.1 Ghz (4050+), Intel Core2 Duo 1.86 Ghz (E6300) 1GB Memory (2GB on Vista) Recommended system requirements for PC Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM: AMD Radeon HD 4870, nVidia GTX 480 Quad core CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 565, Intel Core i5-750 4GB Memory PC Enhancements General Features Full integration with Steamworks to offer cloud storage for saves, multiplayer matchmaking, achievements, as well as automatic updates and new content. Support for Steam Big Picture Mode. Configurable mouse and keyboard support. Gamepad support. High-end Graphics Very high resolution textures with up to 16x the amount of data Detail Tessellation to enhance the detail on many surfaces in the game Higher quality shadows High quality bokeh depth of field with near-blur Tessellation algorithms used to smooth out geometry Improved cloth, SSAO, quality wetness effects, and post-filter effects. LOD quality is adjustable for better quality on higher-end machines. Low-End Graphics Crystal cares about TR fans being able to run on older systems, unlike many other games they still support Windows XP. A lot of scalability options to suit a range of machines. Chances are if you’re a PC buff, you’ve still got a handful of questions. In anticipation of some of the more common queries, we’ve tracked down the Director of Nixxes, Jurjen Katsman. Take a read through our Q&A below. Q: Does Tomb Raider support Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8? “We felt it was important for all the Tomb Raider fans to be able to play the game, so we tried to keep our OS support as wide as possible. So unlike some other recent games we do still run on Windows XP as well as on Windows Vista, Windows 7, as well as Windows 8. We are not Windows 8 Certified, which is a Microsoft label they use on their store. However, we do test extensively on Windows 8 and are making sure Windows 8 users get a great game experience.” Q: Is Tomb Raider a Steamworks title? “Yes, Tomb Raider uses Steamworks for achievements, Steam Cloud save games, multiplayer match making, as well as leaderboards.” Q: Will Tomb Raider support Steam offline mode? “Yes, the game will definitely run in offline mode. However, you will obviously not be able to participate in multiplayer games in this mode.” Q: If I purchase a boxed copy of Tomb Raider, does that mean I’ll still be able to play it using Steam? “Every copy of Tomb Raider will integrate with Steam and use the Steamworks features; it does not matter where you bought it.” Q: Will the game require the disc to be in the computer or is it able to directly download from Steam? “Yes, when you buy the game in a store you will get a CD-Key for Steam. Just entering this code on your Steam account will allow you to download the game, so you do not necessarily need the disk. The disk is just there so you do not have to download all that data.” Q: Will there be any DRM? “We do not believe in strong anti-consumer DRM methods, so apart from the game using Steamworks and it having to be authenticated with your Steam account there is no additional DRM.” Q: Does the game support 120 hertz? “On hardware that supports this it certainly will. We do not restrict what refresh rate or frame-rate the game will run at, it will run at whatever frame-rate and refresh rate your hardware will be capable of performance wise.” Q: What are your plans for widescreen in Tomb Raider? “We support AMD Eyefinity as well as NVIDIA Surround to allow you to connect multiple screens and create very wide displays.”

A Message from Darrell Gallagher, Studio Head: We’ve Gone Gold!
A Message from Darrell Gallagher, Studio Head: We’ve Gone Gold! It’s been a long journey, and it feels like we’ve been on this one together. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support since we first revealed our new vision for Tomb Raider to the world. I am very happy to let you know that we are into the final stretch of what has been an exciting and challenging adventure for the last few years. Tomb Raider has ‘gone gold’ and is now en route to manufacturing ahead of the game’s official release on March 5th, so there isn’t too long before it will be in your hands. Back in 2010 when we announced Tomb Raider we promised to break new ground for the franchise – to create an origins story that forges Lara Croft into a hero, and takes her on a journey like no other. I’m very happy that I can stand by those words today. We’ve put everything into this game, and I’m certain we’ve created something that explores Tomb Raider’s history while pushing the limits in interactive storytelling and design. Development has spanned two studios, a pair of E3 stage demos, 50-plus magazine covers, 150 award nominations, nearly 800 fan art submissions, almost 2,000 blog posts, and over 50,000 replies from you on our forums. And now it’s time to get the game into your hands. We sincerely hope you enjoy it. We think you will, We are immensely proud of this game. 28 days to go. Darrel, Studio Head: We’ve Gone Gold! Crystal Dynamics & Dark Horse Bring Lara Croft Back To Comics
Crystal Dynamics & Dark Horse Bring Lara Croft Back To Comics Lara Croft’s adventures in comics were a massive part of your fandom throughout the years. With fans in mind, Crystal Dynamics and Dark Horse Comics are extra excited to announce a partnership that will bring Lara back to print in the world of comics. The new series will debut after the release of Tomb Raider on March 5. The collaboration kicks off through a team-up on Tomb Raider: The Beginning. This will mark the first installment in the comic book series, and is a prequel to the events in Tomb Raider. Written by lead game writer Rhianna Pratchett, fans can get their hands on the book when they pre-order Tomb Raider at Best Buy in the US, and other participating retailers worldwide. “The bold new vision of the game demanded we bring an equally fresh approach to the comics,” said Dave Marshall, editor at Dark Horse. “We’re excited for Tomb Raider fans to experience a new side of Lara Croft as they accompany her on the earliest parts of her first adventure.” Told through a 48-page, six-part hardcover omnibus, Tomb Raider: The Beginning tells the tale of how the Endurance crew came together for their fateful mission. Originally intended to be the latest feature in Dr. James Whitman’s successful archaeology show, Whitman’s World, the eclectic crew faces trials and tribulations even before setting sail. “Whilst penning Lara’s origins story for the game I had lots of ideas about the world she and the other characters inhabited, and the story behind their voyage: it was great to be able to flesh out the world of Tomb Raider and work with the talented team at Dark Horse to bring Lara Croft back to comics,” said Rhianna Pratchett.” Interested in an exclusive look at Tomb Raider: The Beginning? Check out the scenic cover by Tomb Raider art director Brian Horton above, and head on over to their official Facebook page for a taste of what’s to come via four (non-sequential) interior pages. The pages showcased give a spattering of what you can expect in the book, be it action, flashbacks, or quiet insight into the Endurance crew. Enjoy your peek!

OXM Reveals Tomb Raider Multiplayer In January Cover Story
lol That's why they want you to buy the mag! We'll find out soon. I'm assuming someone has to be one of the characters. I doubt everyone can be Lara. I didn't play the multi-player of Guardian of Light but I guess it involves the same premise. Personally I prefer playing just me,myself and I and will enjoy the game as I would normally. I just never felt that Tomb Raider was a multi-player game but I'm old school that way. If it was Like Mortal Kombat then that's another story.

OXM Reveals Tomb Raider Multiplayer In January Cover Story
OXM Reveals Tomb Raider Multiplayer In January Cover Story Yep, you read it right. The January issue of OXM has revealed a secret addition to Tomb Raider, and one a long-time in the making. While Crystal Dynamics has been hard at work crafting and polishing the single-player experience, our sister studio Eidos Montreal has been working tirelessly to introduce multiplayer to the world of Tomb Raider. Inspired by the overwhelmingly positive response to co-op play in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, we’ll have many more details about Tomb Raider’s multiplayer offering come CES in early January. Issue #145 of OXM also dives deep into single player content and combat. Can we all take a second to admire how beautiful the cover art is? You can thank Brian Horton for the lovely piece above starring Lara and Roth. I hope you guys are as excited as I am! I can’t wait to play with fellow fans online come launch day. HD Cover Image Here
