Subscene website sucks! It's a subtitles website. You go there and download subtitles in different languages for movies and tv shows. I have been a member there for years and I have contributed my shares of subtitles. Other members download them and they rate them as good and working or as bad and not working. In the last year there is a new site that has opened up and are also posting subtitles: psagmeno. Most of their English subtitles do not work correctly even if you match them up to the exact version of the movie you are watching: lines out of sync, lines that do not match dialogue spoken on screen, mispelled words, poor grammar, etc etc It's AS IF they don't have any basic command of the English language and yet they are contributing English subtitles. Not only do they have their own website hosting their subtitles, they also been posting them on Subscene. Therefore if I come across a subtitles that doesn't work properly, I will rate it BAD and many of the ones I rated BAD in the last few months were from them. It's not my fault that the subtitles I just happened to download for a particular movie or TV show were from them. Considering they are flooding the Subscene website with their subtitles and many of the long time contributors have left the site, it's not hard to not download one of their subtitles every time. Well, I logged in yesterday and all the subtitles I uploaded to the site in the past 6 years have been deleted. They are all rated GOOD and not one has been rated BAD. Some of them have even been downloaded 5000-6000 times with nothing but GOOD ratings and many of them have been on the site as little time as last week to as long as 6 years. Well, the folks at psagmeno complained to the administrators saying I rated their subtitles bad and asked that everything I contributed be deleted - without checking them. How do you check them? Download the movie or TV episode and then download the subtitles I posted for them and play the movie or TV episode and see if it works or not. Total Bull S!

I have Malwarebytes and Bit Defender Total Security full version and all kind of add ons on Chrome like no script, privacy badger, uBlock origin, do not track, ad block, etc and I also have Google Setting for cookies changed to do not allow 3rd party cookies but websites still have to put cookies on your computer to be able to view the site. Just like LCO put cookies on my computer but there is only one instance of it under www. and only 6 cookies and that is fine. What SFGate did is ridiculous!!

SFGATE is Worse website ever! AVOID!! Every day I open news google several times a day and it gives me a summary of all the major US, World, Business, Technology, Science, Medical, Entertainment, Health, Science news headlines of the day, updated as they happened, each story with several top results websites to choose from. https://news.google.com/news/headlines?ned=us&gl=US&hl=en I looked at it a couple of hours ago and there was a news headline about immigration and the top result was a website named SFGATE dot com. So I clicked it. My browser opened it in a new tab and the page was loading but it was slow loading. On the bottom left corner I could see waiting for a long garbled letters and numbers and then loading and then waiting for and again another long garbled letters and numbers. It went on and on for a couple of minutes or longer before the whole webpage loaded with all the text and photos and embedded videos and so on and the process of waiting and loading on the bottom left corner was no longer showing. But out a whim I decided to look into Chrome browser cookie pages which is listed in alphabetical order in 2 parts. First part is any website that doesn't have www. in front of its URL and second part is any website that has www. in front of its URL. Under the first part, all those long garbled letters and numbers waiting and loading earlier were showing up individually each as one occurence, each one showing putting about a dozen or so cookies on my computer. Then still under the first part, SFGATE is showing up as putting 183 cookies on my computer. Scrolling down the list of all the websites I visited that have put cookies on my computer, I finally got to www DOT SFGATE and under there, another 97 cookies. Under each occurence, Chrome allows you to click on a drop down menu next to it to see in depth what each of those dozens and dozens and 183 and 97 cookies were; tthen it goes one step further and allows you to view detailed information on each individual cookie where you will see the date and time it was put on your computer and the date and time that cookie expires. Just picking out a couple of those cookies at random to view them in more details, the expiration date of those cookies were 2020 and 2022 and I presume the rest of them will show the same thing. WHAT THE HECK???

The Alamo (1960) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053580/ Produced and Directed by John Wayne, starring John Wayne as Davy Crockett. This movie is a joke. For being a movie about a historical event, it never explains the cause of the Texas Revolution and why the Battle of the Alamo took place. The running time is 2 hours and 47 minutes. The actual total running time for the battle sequences is about 12 minutes. Most of the rest of the movie is John Wayne's dominating the screen time and being comical or preaching his personal and political views and beliefs that have nothing to do with the history of the Battle of the Alamo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Alamo_(1960_film)#Politics An insult to everyone who fought and died on both sides at the Alamo and in the Texas Revolution. This movie is evidence what happens when movie studios give an over-rated second rate actor who thinks he is an A-list actor (John Wayne) too much artistic and creative Carte Blanche! I can't believe this insulting trash was nominated for Best Picture!! I did some research: the defenders at the Alamo were outnumbered 10-1. Their weapons were gun powder muskets and gun powder handguns and a few cannon. In 1836, when this event took place, the following weapons were not invented and/or available yet: the 6 shot Revolver that used a self-contained metallic cartridges rather than loose powder, pistol ball, and percussion caps (1854), the Winchester repeating rifle (1866), the Gatling gun (1860), the Howitzer cannon (1859). If the Alamo defenders had those weapons then, it would had been a different story for the Mexican Army. 1/5

The Body (2012) aka El Cuerpo https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1937149 A detective investigates the husband whose wife's body is missing from the morgue after she dies of a heart attack. Sound simple enough, isn't it? It isn't!! By the time this made in Spain movie reaches the final frame, I didn't correctly predict any of the final revelations and twists that were shown. A chilling thriller very worthy of Alfred Hitchcock. 4.5/5

Perfetti Aconosciuti (2016) aka Perfect Strangers (in Italian with English subtitles) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4901306/ 7 long time friends: 3 husbands and wives couples (including one newlyweds) and a single man get together for dinner. They decide to play a game while eating their meal: put all their cell phones on the dining table and share with each other every text message, every email and every phone call, by putting it on speaker phone for all to hear, that they receive during the course of the meal. What happens next in this well written, well acted, intelligent Italian cinema film - you will have to find out for yourself. 5/5

The Killers (1964) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058262/ The remake of the 1946 classic film noir, based on a story by Ernest Hemingway, this time with Lee Marvin, Clu Gulager, John Cassavetes, Angie Dickinson, Norman Fell and Ronald Reagan. Originally a made for TV movie (the very first one), NBC deemed it too violent for broadcast and it was released to the movie theaters. This film contains the kind of sadism and nastiness and grittiness and violence only director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry, Invasion of the Body Snatcher, the Beguiled, Coogan's Bluff, Madigan, Charlie Warrick and Telefon)) could deliver. It's been said that Quentin Tarantino based the characters of John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction on Lee Marvin and Clu Gulager from this film. This was Ronald Reagan's only bad guy role and also his last movie role before entering politics to be in the running to become the Governor of California in 1967. Ronald Reagan said he hated this movie because there was one scene where he had to slap Angie Dickinson for real to make it look realistic. This is also one of the many movies (and TV shows) from the 60's to the 70's I've seen where Norman Fell either plays a good guy, usually a cop, or a bad guy: To me he will always be Mr. Roper on Three's Company. Angie Dickinson as the scheming double crossing Femme Fatale was a looker back then. 4/5

Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2567026/ Not sure why this sequel to the 2010 Disney's Alice In Wonderland did not receive the good reviews its predecessor did. It is not bad! 3.75/5

The Satan Bug (1965) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059678/ Based on another Alistair MacLean's (The Guns Of Navarone, Ice Station Zebra, Where Eagles Dare) novel, with a screenplay by James Clavell (The Great Escape), and directed by John Sturges (The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven 1960, Ice Station Zebra, The Eagle Has Landed), this was a good movie. A former intelligence agent is brought out of retirement by the U.S. Government to catch the thieves who stole a top secret biological weapon and are threatening to unleash it on the world. A weapon that is capable of wiping out every living thing on Earth within months. Suspenseful, intense, thrilling, intelligent without any violence, blood and gore, foul language - there were scenes that had me grinding my teeth and gripping the sofa cushion. 4.5/5

Dumbkirk was a joke and an abomination and an insult to everyone who was there and to everyone who died there.

Darkest Hour (2017) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4555426/ Nominated for Best Picture, this is a good movie in its own right but I still think out of all the other Best Picture nominations: Call Me by Your Name, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, The Post, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the latter is still the best movie of them all. 4/5

Intelligent, well written, well acted, suspenseful and there is no special effects, foul language, violence, blood and gore. Nominated for 7 Awards Awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. I did some research. $100,000 ($1.7 million by today's money) is a lot of money for 1938, the year the story of this movie is set in. A lb of sirloin steak was 40 cents, a lb of bread was 8 cents (guess they didn't sell sliced loaves yet?), a gallon of gasoline was 21 cents, a basic small 4 cylinder car was $1,000, the cost of a median home in Houston was about $5,100, one night stay in a hospital was $7, a high school teacher with 4 years of post high school education earned $1,912 a year average. The murderous wife's home used in the movie for the exterior scenes is still there According to Zillow it's now worth over $2,100,000. It was built in 1927, 4 bedrooms, 3 bath, over 3,000 square feet and sold for around $28,000 brand new. So considering that the average home was in 1938 was $5,100; this house being $28,000 in 1927, it was considered a mansion then. the current owner bought it in 1996 for $585,000. The apartment complex the insurance agent lived at is also still there 4.5/5

I bet not only did the parents not paid for the toys that he gotten, he also didn't get it through the correct method of putting coins in it and attempting to get them with the claw and continue putting coins in it until he was able to get each one with the claw. Crooked House (2017) [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1869347 This film adaptation of Agatha Christie's 49th book, which is considered by many as one of her 7 best books, fails miserably. The stellar cast of Christina Hendricks, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Terence Stamp, Max Irons, Julian Sands and Stefanie Martini are not given much to do with their paper thin characters from a very shallow script. The story revolves around the mysterious death of the Patriarch of a wealthy family and possible foul play is suspected. The granddaughter of the deceased hires a private investigator, a young man she once had a brief affair with, to help her look into her grandfather's death. She doesn't want to call the Police because that will involve Scotland Yard and draw unwanted attention to the family by the press. The suspects are all family members of the deceased: his mother, his grandchildren, his daughter in laws, his ex-wife, his 2 sons, etc, etc. They all have one thing in common: they are fighting for the family fortune. But the story doesn't really go anywhere and doesn't do much build up. In the nearly 2 hours running time, the viewer is not really enticed to care about any of the characters. When I was watching this, my thoughts should had been on which one of them may be a murderer and which one of them should I be rooting for to be innocent. But there was on the screen narrative that made me care for any of them. The director didn't develop the characters to establish a connection between them and the viewer. When the killer is finally revealed and the movie abruptly ends and I don't say that lightly, my immediate thought, when I saw the final frame fade to the "Directed By" credit, was: that's it? It's over? This is the 2nd film adaptation in 2017 of an Agatha Christie's novel that fails to deliver. 3/5

Altitude (2017) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4556370 I've seen 1000's of movies in my life including many direct to video titles and many of them were bad, but this one takes the cake! Being able to enjoy a movie requires being able to defy some belief but with this particular film, you also have to forget that you have a brain while at the same time, being insulted by how stupid and laughable this movie is. That's Kelsey Grammer's daughter by the way. Guess having the Grammer name is not helping her acting career move up faster and she has to take whatever roles that comes her way including being in crappy movies like this one. 0.25/5

Starship Troopers 1997 Wild Things 1998 James Bond #18 Tomorrow Never Dies 1999 Altitude 2017 In 1999, she was barely 28 when she played a Nuclear Physicist in Tomorrow Never Dies. The critics and the Bond fans complained that she was not believable in the role being she was so young and her acting was like a High School kid. She was only cast because of her prior roles in Starship Troopers and Wild Things brought her attention and fame at the time. Now in this new Altitude movie, she plays an FBI agent. She is 46 now and I can find her being an FBI agent a bit more plausible.
