  1. Yeah, you can change it up and down whenever you like. Useful for bits like this
  2. Change the difficulty of the game if you haven't done so already. When an enemy gets up close to you, use the evade button to dodge out of their way. This will also enable you to do finishing moves to kill them, depending on what skills you've chosen. Shoot the exploding barrels for some extra kills. Switch out your weapons; don't try to only use the bow because it can be a bit too slow for an intense fight like this. The rifle is good for long-distance kills and the shotgun is great for when enemies get too close. If you shoot enemies in the legs, that can stun then which will let you pull off melee moves to finish them off. Try to stay behind cover as much as possible, and shoot enemies in the head for a quick kill and extra XP (I liked changing to the pistol for doing headshots in a fight like this).
  3. I believe that you can only use the climbing axe in combat once your tier 2 skills unlock
  4. Great, glad it worked
  5. Have you re-bound either the primary fire or alternate fire buttons? If you have, try re-setting the controls to default and see if that helps.
  6. You can use either the arrow keys or A-D for the left-right QTEs (I used A-D for all of them). The biggest problem I had with the game was that I didn't know what speed they wanted me to do the button-mashing ones at (though I've seen this complaint on multiple platforms), and frame-rate drops causing the game to not register my key presses. My game is the retail PC DVD edition, but the version downloaded from Steam should be exactly the same.
  7. Same here The bugs in this release reminded me of why I rarely pre-order games, but Square Enix and Nixxes have been quick to respond so I'm happy And after this patch I can now connect to the Square Enix servers, which I hadn't been able to do before. Not that I was fussed, I haven't felt any motivation to try the multiplayer yet... Nvidia will also be releasing some new drivers soon that should improve the performance of the game, so keep your an eye on the Nvidia driver downloads if you're an Nvidia user.
  8. Another PC patch has just been released! Announcement from Nixxes Notes: Addressed an issue in Shipwreck Beach where the mast on the wooden ship was occasionally missing depending on the players path. Fixed a gating issue in Research Bunker where the elevator would get stuck in an unintended state. Multiplayer Connectivity: An issue related to security certificates that stopped many users from connection to Square Enix servers was resolved. Multiplayer Connectivity: Improved messages when you are unable to connect with Square Enix servers. Voice Chat: New Push-To-Talk feature, by default mapped to F1. Voice Chat: New voice-chat volume option. Voice Chat: Improved overall quality of voice-chat. Fixes for crashes on startup in specific situations when no audio output is available. Fixes for various reported crashes during both single-player and multi-player. Movies are showing up again when using SSAA. Cost of TressFX reduced, especially in combination with SSAA. TressFX memory usage reduced for AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround setups. TressFX simulation and graphical quality improvements. New Ultra-quality shadow mode for contact hardening shadows. This is not enabled by default in any quality profile, but can be enabled from the advanced settings. Improvements to fullscreen/windowed switching and multiple display handling. Various UI improvements.
  9. I believe the PS3 patch has already been released, with the XBox 360 one to follow shortly. Official announcement Single Player • Resolved a gating issue in “Cliffside Bunker” caused when the hanging cargo on the stern of the Endurance does not react to your bow rope • Fixed a second issue in “Cliffside Bunker” where you were unable to pull the hanging cargo due to a missing gear item awarded after the melee fight • Addressed a rare traversal issue in ”Shipwreck Beach” (nighttime) where the second gondola was missing after a checkpoint • Fixed infrequent issue that caused enemies to disappear when hit with a shotgun, occasionally gating progress • Addressed uncommon gating issues during the ”Chasm Monastery’s” bridge onslaught where players are unable to progress past the wooden barrier • Prevented the rare possibility of receiving credit for a collectible in ”Research Base” more than once • Fixed issue which would occasionally cause infinite loading when fast traveling • Fixed issue where ”Shipwreck Beach” would not load properly after saving and quitting near an optional tomb, causing players to fall through the world • Fixed a rare issue where the Cinematic in “Solarii Stronghold” would not start • Addressed a rare issue in ”Coastal Forest” where the world wouldn’t load after opening the Ancient Gate • Addressed an issue in ”Shipwreck Beach” where the mast on the wooden ship was occasionally missing depending on the player’s path • Resolved a gating bug in “Base Exterior” where you are unable to return via fast travel back to the Radio Tower Basecamp • Fixed a gating issue in “Research Bunker” where the elevator would get stuck in an unintended state • Resolved an occasional issue where large opponents would appear invincible despite the reticule changing color to red • Prevented players in “Shipwreck Beach” from pulling the life raft over to an axe climb rock causing them to confuse the world and unable to progress the story • Minor updates to localized fonts • Updated Lara’s injuries later in the game to be more consistent in and out of cinematics • Improved stability of UI Multiplayer • Fixed occasional crash when signing out from the multiplayer loading screen • Addressed crash that occasionally occurred by leaving the game before the loading screen appeared • Improvements to multiplayer match stability • Fixed issue where canceling a title update after selecting multiplayer/Square Enix in the Main Menu results in locking out the controls • Addressed rare crashes entering multiplayer game in progress • Fixed bug where a user’s body would shrink if killed by death plane, electric pole, spike trap, or fire, in certain circumstances • Improved stability of host migration during a match • Addressed an issue where players could die with a super weapon and respawn still in possession of it • Fixed bug with Assault Rifle tracers • Fixed an issue where being shot with the Power Bow while jumping onto a flagpole causes the player character to become stuck in a grabbing animation • Addressed traversal issues in “Shanty Town” map that allowed players to fall through the map • Resolved grenades not attaching to players or exploding properly • Addressed issues where throwable weapon triggers incorrect SFX • Fixed voice over issues at the start of a match • Addressed animation glitches when reviving other players • Fixed bug where players could get stuck when walking up a slope with a Medkit
  10. This bit drove me mental too. Try to keep a lookout for the spikes, and only very lightly adjust Lara's course. If you go too heavy on the left or right to avoid some spikes, you'll send Lara into a spike trap on the other side of the river.
  11. It depends on how you play really. If you just go through the story and don't spend time looking for all the collectibles and other assorted goodies, you'll finish it quickly. I finished my first playthrough on 96%, which took me about 20 hours. Not too bad. The reason I finish it so quickly is because I took the week off work so I could play
  12. Nice screenies, jedicri! Yep, I've finished the game once and now I've completed 76% of my second go Spoilery pictures for a certain boss battle below... This is the sort of thing that usually happens when I decide to take pictures in the middle of a battle Mirror Thrilling escape! Night-time landscape
  13. Strange... When you hold aim (right-click by default), you should see an arrow which will show the trajectory of the lamp. Does this appear?
  14. Posting links to Tomb Raider saves is perfectly fine. Anyone who needs PC saves feel free to ask and I'll post one of mine if I have a convenient one Tora117, in case you still need a save, here's mine from just before the gate in the Shantytown. It's the one in save slot 1 (40%) http://rapidshare.com/files/2762166057/Shantytown.zip
  15. If I'm thinking of the right spot, there's a lantern you need to shoot which will burn that stuff away.
  16. The upgrade you get when you get the compound bow is the ability to create a rope bridge by shooting rope arrows into climbable walls. Some of the tear-away walls on the beach you need the upgrade you get on the Endurance to break, so you wouldn't be able to get those yet.
  17. You don't need to have any arrows to shoot a rope arrow. Just aim and press your secondary fire button.
  18. Some more screenies, just because You can see the difference the PC patch made by comparing my sunset picture above to this one with the fullscreen effects enabled: Wolf attack!
  19. Are you holding down the aim button at the same time as you press the primary fire button to throw the lantern?
  20. Assuming you're on PC, the saves are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[steam User ID]\203160 You can just overwrite the saves in the game by using Change Save Slot in the pause menu though
  21. Yeah, that river/parachute bit was the second most infuriating bit of the game for me after the wolf thing. It was a lot better on my second run through the game because I was actually prepared for it and knew what to do. Actually, my second run through the game has been a lot less frustrating in general because I now know how to get the QTEs to co-operate with me. Still think the game would have been better if it weren't constantly trying to yank control away from the player at the beginning
  22. Is this at the gate in the Shantytown? Are you cycling through your ammunition to select the fire arrows when you have the bow out?
  23. Very nice picture! Please share more if you have them! A few more of mine, since I'm busy replaying the game and Nixxes have patched it to improve the graphics, and because this game is pretty Jump! A dramatic lightning-lit shot
  24. After the stick waggling bit, you should get a prompt to press the interact key repeatedly. If you're not seeing that prompt, try mashing the interact key anyway after the stick waggling bit is finished. Then after that, you need to shoot the gun again.
  25. Did the wolf QTE again a bit earlier. First tried it with my normal graphics settings; the game ignored my key presses and Lara died. Then I turned the graphics all the way down, and got through it first time even though I wasn't doing anything different. So yeah, it was definitely lag from my graphics settings during the QTE that was causing my problems. I wish this competition between ATI and Nvidia would stop. I believe that ATI users have similar issues with games using PhysX, which was developed by Nvidia - these sort of things just spoil games unnecessarily.
