  1. Legend and Anniversary are both very good games. I enjoyed them both, but I personally liked Anniversary much more than Legend, and I'm hoping that TR8 is more like TR:A than TR:L. Although, if they keep the wall-running with the grapple move, I hope that they make it a lot easier to control. Lara was hired to find artefacts in both TR1 and TR3, so it's not without precedent. In Anniversary they added in some of Lara's daddy issues to give her an extra motivation to go after the Scion. In TR1 she pretty much just accepted because she thought it would be fun Lara never has a gripping need for the artefacts she sets out to find though, really. I completely agree with you. I have absolutely no intention of trying to complete the time trials, because rushing through every level is just so not what Tomb Raider is about to me. I've done one or two speed runs through levels in a few of the other TR games, but I get bored with it extremely quickly. Some people like that sort of thing, I'll just download a savegame to get all the rewards
  2. It's the direction key then shift. Keep the direction key pressed all the time, it makes it easier. Also, make sure that Lara maintains a weapons lock on the target at all times, even if she's not shooting at it (holding the combat key [which is right-click by default, if I remember correctly] down will do that). Once the enemy has begun its charge, stop shooting, but make sure that Lara keeps pointing her guns at it, while still continuing to move sideways. Only once the targets have appeared and turned red should you press shift and fire. I'm another one who had horrific problems with this move. I was ready to tear all my hair out until I realised that the sole cause of all my problems was that I wasn't holding the combat key down
  3. Wow, that's rather a mouthful (Wiki says that Memorial Day is the last Monday of May... that would be 26 May 2008 then, yes?) Can't wait
  4. Good luck Helokity Can't help you myself because I have exactly zero experience with Linux, but let us know if you find a solution to the problem. I'm sure a few members here will be interested in what happens. (I'm going to move this to the Technical Help board. It might get some attention from someone else who uses Linux there ).
  5. Welcome Solo1000! If you're trying to run TRs 2 - 5 on XP, I suggest downloading this patch programme which contains patches for the Tomb Raider games for XP and Vista that should help with your problems. For Tomb Raider 1 it's more complicated than simply using a patch and you need a couple of emulator programmes to get it to work. We have a technical help board, if you need more in depth help
  6. The reason that Lara is visiting areas that were in Legend is because that's a Legend trailer. I think it was one of the first trailers released, and for that reason there's stuff in the trailer that didn't appear in the final game, such a few areas that got cut out, and Lara having a braid instead of the ponytail she ended up with.
  7. Welcome to LCO, Kitana Anniversary is great I really loved it, although the adrenaline dodge move gave me a lot of stress at first
  8. Welcome ChocolateFairy / Gloria! Hope you have fun here
  9. Happy birthday all! Special birthday wishes to Cliffy for today

    You're welcome Enjoy the game
  11. Welcome penny70 I also can't wait for the next TR game and I wish that Eidos would release a bit of info on it already
  12. Fridge Raider, please don't post three posts in a row. If you need to add or change a post you have made, please use the "edit" function. Those trailers for you're talking about are fan made (see and ). From the YouTube video description: "this is a video about the future tomb raider 8. It was made with Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb raider Anniversary and Uncharted Drake's fortune pictures". Eidos hasn't announced a name for the new game yet, but it's very highly unlikely that Eidos will name the new game Mists of Avalon, because that name is already taken

Here's the solution that solved the same sound-looping problem for me, but be aware that it'll cause any saves you've already made not to work and you'll have to re-start the game. Download this XP / Vista multipatcher, and extract the patch programme. Install only the patch for TR3 (unless you have other TR games you would like to patch as well, although if you do you should make sure that the patched version will be compatible with any saves you already have). Make sure that your TR3 CD is in your disc drive when you run the programme because the patch will copy the audio files on it over to your hard drive. This will allow the game to read the audio files directly from the hard drive instead of from the CD and should stop the sound from looping.
  14. Good luck to you. Let us know if you need more help
  15. Woo-hoo, congratulations on becoming an uncle, Blade
  16. Awwww, he's adorable! Congrats on becoming an uncle again Cliffy

Nice pic, Jenn. I like your kitty
  18. Welcome back TRF, hope you had a good time on holiday
  19. If the shield of the first centaur is lying on the floor, you don't need to grapple it. Just get Lara to stand on it and press "interact" and she'll pick it up. If it's hanging in mid-air and Lara won't pick it up, that sounds like a bug... For the adrenaline dodge, make sure that you maintain Lara's weapons lock on the centaur at all times. If she's not pointing her guns at the centaur when it charges, the dodge won't work. Hold the combat key and run to the side while shooting the centaur. When it gets enraged, stop shooting but continue to run to the side and keep pressing the combat key so Lara keeps her guns pointed at the centaur. You should see two targets appear and merge on the centaur's head (and turn red). When that happens, press crouch and fire (while still holding the combat key and moving sideways). Be careful not to fire too early, or the move won't work.
  20. For the interactive cut-scenes, you need to press a specific sequence of controls when the icons appear on the screen. According to Stella's walkthrough, the combination for this one is: Make sure you're not hitting the controls too late. Also make sure you don't hit the next button in the sequence too early.
  21. Welcome back, 252. Glad you had a good time Apart from your aeroplane difficulties... a 5 and a half hour delay doesn't sound like fun at all
  22. I say no because I'm planning on buying the game for PC, like all my other TR games. I'll probably end up having to upgrade my graphics just for this game though
  23. Hello mia lara, welcome to LCO Don't worry, your English is just fine
